‘Reject PSNI Recruitment Campaign’ – Lasair Dhearg
Lasair Dhearg, a political Movement organising for a 32 County Socialist Republic, has called on community organisations and political groups to reject an ongoing PSNI recruitment campaign.
Group spokesperson Pól Torbóid said that “in recent days, advertising has appeared on bus stops across Belfast and beyond, highlighting an upcoming recruitment drive for British security force, the PSNI.”
“We understand that the advertisements were strategically placed to recruit from a specific demographic; namely students and individuals from working class backgrounds including predominantly Republican areas.”
Torbóid added “In Belfast so far, one advertisement has appeared on a main arterial route through the West of the city, and the other in an area frequented by a large student population from nearby Queen’s University; suggesting that the force hopes to recruit from those areas in particular.”
“It seems as though the recruitment campaign has been targeted by local members of the activist group ‘Red Section’ who have since posted content on social media.”
“We call on local people to continue to reject the PSNI. If the ongoing occupation of Ireland’s Six Counties isn’t reason enough, then a cursory glance at the activities of the force will expose their real motives. Local community and political activists continually face incessant harassment from armed PSNI personnel via oppressive political legislation; as well as persistent recruitment attempts by the PSNI’s secretive ‘C3 Intelligence Branch’, among other agencies.”
“As long as Irish families continue to seek justice, fighting tooth and nail against a supposed ‘police service’ who curtails their attempts at every move, hiding evidence and blocking investigations, then we cannot understand why any person or group, Republican or otherwise, would lend this organisation their support.”
“Any individual who joins or works for the PSNI, indirectly or otherwise, should be ostracised and rejected in the same manner as the force itself.”
