Covid-19 Supply Convoy Arrives in West Belfast
A convoy of vehicles ferried into West Belfast today as part of the Community Defence Committees drive to secure supplies in the face of the coronavirus crisis.
Tinned goods, cereals, sauces, pasta, rice, sanitary products, baby wipes and more were received by local community activists in the Lenadoon area, to prepare for distribution across North and West Belfast. Part of the initiative includes our ‘Lunch for Kids Programme’, aiming to ensure children in working class areas receive nutritional support as schools remain closed, limiting access to free school meals.
As the crisis continues, and as families remain in isolation with older members unable to leave the home, many are finding massive reductions in income due to job losses and the ongoing crisis.
