‘End Israeli Apartheid’ – Ireland stands with Palestine on global day of action
Thousands gathered across Ireland [Sat 22nd May 2021] to show their support for the Palestinian people living under the jackboot of the apartheid Zionist state.
As Lasair Dhearg in Dublin marched with over 1,000 people in a huge show of support in the city, Lasair Dhearg Belfast Branch members gathered at Belfast’s Custom house Square.
Speaking from Belfast, Lasair Dhearg spokesperson Pádraic MacCoitir said, “I’m standing here with my comrades in Lasair Dhearg, in support of the people in Palestine. Over the past few weeks hundreds of people were slaughtered by scum Zionists, and it is right that likeminded people come out and protest against what is happening in Gaza and also in the West Bank, and we should not stand silent.”
Joined at Custom House Square in Belfast, was Lasair Dhearg spokesperson Pól Torbóid, who said, “We have all seen the images on social media, and reports coming out of Palestine of the absolute brutality of the Zionist forces; death and destruction, delivered by fighter jets over the beleaguered Gaza strip. A very small area just 7 miles wide by 25 miles long and filled with over two million people.”
Pól said, “Whilst we have had a ceasefire in recent days, the core issues that have caused the continued violence and peaks of destruction every few years remain unresolved. And we’re joined here today by several hundreds to say that Israeli Apartheid must end. And must end now.”
