The Red Army: The People’s Army

In 1918 the Red Army was formed in defence of the workers. The following year it was celebrated and it should be remembered that this army defeated the Nazis in the USSR.

Revisionists have always downplayed the role of the Red Army during The Great Patriotic War, otherwise known as ‘World War Two’. The Russian people and its army suffered immeasurably with the loss of 26 million people.

We in the West are inundated with films, documentaries, books and newspapers claiming Britain and their allies defeated Nazism. If anything those very countries went on to cause mayhem in many countries from Ireland to India and North Korea to Vietnam. Today millions of people are living in misery and fear as these modern day fascists kill tens of thousands annually.

So we should salute and celebrate the Red Army today and every day.
