O’Neills Megastore Given PR Makeover

Lasair Dhearg activists highlight O’Neills recently exposed collaboration with British Armed Forces.

Speaking after the action, Lasair Dhearg spokesperson Aindriú Mac Ruaidhrí said:

Aindriú Mac Ruaidhrí

“O’Neills has over the past few decades become a household name for almost every community across Ireland – serving as the primary manufacturer of GAA jerseys and school sports kits. It is a name synonymous with Ireland’s Gaelic games which, alongside the people who enjoy them, have for over a century been repeatedly repressed and criminalised by British colonial forces.”

He continued: “It therefore isn’t surprising that O’Neills has chosen not to advertise locally, within the communities they profit from, their collaboration with British armed forces. These same communities who have experienced extreme violence and murder at the hands of the British state.”

“It is for this reason that today Lasair Dhearg has given O’Neills the makeover it deserves and erected an advertising campaign reflective of the companies activities.”

O’Neills cannot rub hands with British Armed forces whilst they continue to profit from the GAA community across Ireland. They cannot whitewash the crimes and pain the British murder machine has inflicted upon the GAA community through the Bloody Sunday massacre (1920) or the murder of Aidan McAnespie.

We hope to see O’Neills workers across its stores and factories refusing to produce or handle said jerseys and training gear. If you are an O’Neills worker and require support, Lasair Dhearg is here to help you.

To the O’Neills bosses we say: cancel your contracts with British Armed Forces or risk further protest action.
