PSNI Injury Claims “Large scale theft from the public purse” says Pól Torbóid
Almost half a Billion pounds has been paid out to PSNI officers and prison service personnel over supposed ‘injury claims’ recent figures show.
Britain’s public spending watchdog recently released a report detailing the costs, indicating that since 2015 claims have ‘soared’. Some of those payments, claimed many years after a supposed incident has occured, have been backdated decades, sending individual claims as high as almost £0.5 Million.
Speaking regarding the recent report, Lasair Dhearg spokesperson Pól Torbóid said that “this report details that in comparison to other British front line forces there is a massive gap in outcome regarding injury payouts, with the Six Counties ‘significantly greater’ than England.”
Pól said, “This report details, in cold hard facts, the increased likelihood of a PSNI member to pursue an injury claim in comparison to other forces, indicating a possible culture within the frontline force of pursuance of a ‘quick pay day’. Indeed, in the Six Counties there are 12 claims a week on average, some resulting in one off injury claims, topped up by monthly payments for life. Of a force of approximately 7,000 members, almost 3,000 serving or retired officers receive payments.”
“This isn’t a new issue either; as far back as November 2014 it was reported that more than 10,000 former RUC officers had lodged claims, stating their hearing was damaged. Up until then, the total amount paid out was over £135 Million; almost half of which was paid to legal firms and courts.”
“This recent report supports other historical evidence of a culture of pursuance of damages within Britain’s frontline forces, which is subsequently supported by the British state with massive payouts. These claims and others may very well represent large scale theft from the public purse by Britain’s security apparatus.”
