100 Years of Partition marked in Derry
On this day in 1921 the ‘Northern Ireland Parliament’ was formed. A significant event during the partition of Ireland and the continued occupation of the Six Counties.
Lasair Dhearg in Derry marked the occasion with a massive banner dropped from Derry’s walls.
For too long now the Irish people have suffered under partition and an occupation forced on us at gunpoint. Generations have come to accept state-sponsored death squads and state collusion as part of the fabric of the Six County state.
Partition must be brought to an end, and in its place, a 32 County Socialist Republic that will cherish all the children of the nation equally.
